In China: Li Hao was Executed For Keeping 6 Woman in Dungeon as Sex Slaves

A Chinese man was executed on Tuesday for keeping six women in a dungeon as sex slaves and killing two of them, state media reported.

The official Xinhua news agency said that Li Hao had been convicted of murder, rape, illegal detention, organized prostitution and making pornography for profit in 2012.
The 36-year old dug the dungeon in the basement of a residential compound he bought in 2009, Xinhua said.

Li Hao was executed on Tuesday.The six women Li tricked into coming home with him were held there for between two and 21 months.

Li repeatedly raped the women, forced them to appear in pornographic web shows from March to April 2011 and made them have sex with customers for a brief period, it added.
The death penalty had been approved by the Supreme People's Court, Xinhua said, after a higher court upheld the sentence handed down by the Luoyang Intermediate People's Court in November 2012.

George Stinney; The Yongest Person to be executed in America, Family Member want his Name Cleared

 

Almost 70 years ago, South Carolina electrocuted 14-year-old George Stinney, the youngest person to be executed by an American state since the 1800s. Family members today say he's innocent, and while they can't bring him back, they want his name cleared.

A black teen in the Jim Crow South, Stinney was accused of murdering two white girls, ages 7 and 11, as they hunted for wildflowers in Alcolu, about 50 miles southeast of Columbia.

Stinney, according to police, confessed to the crime. No witness or evidence that might vindicate him was presented during a trial that was over in fewer than three hours. An all-white jury convicted him in a flash, 10 minutes, and he was sentenced to "be electrocuted, until your body be dead in accordance with law. And may God have mercy on your soul," court documents say.

Fewer than three months after the girls' deaths, Stinney was escorted to an electric chair at a Columbia penitentiary, built for much larger defendants. The chair's straps were loose on Stinney's 5-foot-1-inch, 95-pound frame, and books were placed on the seat so he would fit in the chair.

Seeking justice 70 years after execution When the switch was flipped, Stinney's body convulsed, dislodging the oversized mask and exposing his face to about 40 witnesses, including the slain girls' fathers, according to James Gamble, son of the Clarendon County sheriff at the time. Gamble recalled the execution for The Herald in Rock Hill a decade ago.
 

homosexuality banning: Nigeria arrests gay 'suspects' under new law

Nigerian authorities arrested 10 people believed to be gay men under a bill signed this week that bans same-sex marriages, a human rights group said.
Police detained men in various states and have dozens of pending arrests based on perceived sexual orientation, according to Amnesty International.

"Those arrested under this draconian new legislation must be released immediately and the charges against them dropped. Locking someone up for their sexual orientation violates the most basic human rights standards," Makmid Kamara, a researcher for the rights group, said in a statement Wednesday.
Nigerian police spokesman Frank Mba angrily suggested no one had been arrested due to the new law.

Teenager Theft: Court Orders Public Flogging

 

An Abuja Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered that a 19-year-old boy, Isaiah Sunday, be flogged 12 strokes of the cane for theft.

The Senior Magistrate, Shafa Aliyu, ordered that the convict be flogged after he pleaded guilty on a one-count charge of stealing.

Aliyu said that the punishment would serve as deterrent to others, “besides, he is a young boy and the complainant has forgiven him,’’ Aliyu said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the police executed the public flogging of the teenager after the judgment.

Earlier, Prosecutor Udeh David, told the court that Ntibuka Linda of No. 22 Majekodumi Street, Utako, Abuja, reported the case at Wuse Police Station.

David said that the complainant came back from a journey on Jan. 5 to discover that the convict had entered her apartment.

He said the convict stole N18,000, one curve 4 blackberry phone, one touch light Nokia phone and one carton of Indomie noodles.

As news of the controversial law banning same-sex marriage continues to make headlines worldwide after it was signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan, the renowned spiritual head of the Synagogue church in Lagos, Prophet TB Joshua has spoken out on the contentious issue.

Gunmen Attack Gov. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso's father; Alhaji Musa Kwankwaso

Reports from Kano just now have it that Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso's father; Alhaji Musa Kwankwaso who holds the traditional title of Maji Dadin Kano and District Head of Madubi was attacked by unknown gunmen in the outskirts of Kano city.

Although the details are still sketchy with   sources saying the attack occurred at a mosque while another version has it that the elderly Kwankwaso was attacked at his residence.

Another version has it that the gunmen killed several persons after shooting  sporadically on their way to Mr. Kwankwaso’s residence while the old man narrowly escaped being killed.

China, the world's largest tobacco consumer, is aiming to ban indoor smoking in public areas by the end of the year.
About one in three cigarettes smoked in the world is in China, according to the World Health Organization. And more than half of Chinese men smoke, according to the Global Adult Tobacco Survey in 2010.

Although the nation's health ministry issued guidelines in 2011 to ban smoking in places like hotels and restaurants, they haven't been "strictly enforced," according to Xinhua, China's state-run news agency.
The China's National Health and Family Commission is now working on a tobacco control law with clear punishments, according to Xinhua.

China's smoking habit The country's health authorities estimate over a million deaths from tobacco-related diseases every year. The WHO warns that if tobacco use is not decreased in China, these deaths will increase to 3 million by 2050.

Incredible!!! Woman caught sneaking into U.S. in suitcase

 

Customs and Border Protection officers foiled a smuggling attempt at the U.S.-Mexico border when they discovered a woman contorted and hidden inside a suitcase.

Officials released a photo this week showing the woman tucked into a ball and laying inside the luggage in the back of a vehicle.

The woman, a Thai national named Pornkamol Mongkolsermsak, was charged with re-entry after deportation, CBP spokesman Victor Brabble said.

She was discovered on December 30, when inspectors at the border referred the driver of a Honda SUV for a secondary inspection, CBP said in a statement.

In Lagos Fuel Tanker Fire Kill Five and Burnt alot of Houses

 

Fire and explosion from a fuel tanker has killed at least five residents and destroyed many homes in  Apapa area of Lagos State .

The tanker, a 33,000 liters PMS conveyor lost control after its brakes failed and somersaulted, causing a wild explosion along the Berger bus stop, near Mile 2.

General Manager of the Lagos Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Olufemi Osanyintolu told our correspondent that the fire began at about 10pm Tuesday night.

He said his agency   immediately activated all its rescue units and alerted affiliate agencies to ensure the fire was cortailed before serious damage could be done.

Many residents also had severe injuries from the incident and have been taken for medical care at hospitals in the area.

Controversial Lagos miracle Pentecostal priest, Pastor Ofuche Ukoha (also known as) "Sign Fireman" has been implicated in a ritual murder scandal involving a boy in his church who strangled 12 year old teenage girl while trying to obtain feces from her for ritual purposes.

The disclosure of Pastor Fireman's involvement in the scandal was made by an eighteen year old boy paraded by the police in Lagos. The teenage suspect stated during the parade that he was sent on the ritual mission by Pastor  Fireman.

He said he had always dreamt of becoming rich and had approached the pastor personally, after years of attending the church without his own financial miracle happening, Mr. Fireman reportedly told him the way to get his Sign for finance was to get the feces of a virgin girl. The suspect said Pastor Fireman promised him a reward of N100,000 for the assignment.
 

Five Policemen, Detained In Imo State For Renting Rifle To Kidnappers

 

Five policemen serving in Imo State police command, including the armourer of New Owerri police division, are now cooling their heels in detention following the discovery that one of the AK-47 rifles officially issued for guard duties was being used by dare devil kidnappers terrorizing the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Musa Katsina, who confirmed the development, said while four of the five policemen were explaining their complicity in the sordid act, the armourer is being tried for negligence of duty.

Katsina said: “It is true that I ordered the arrest, detention and interrogation of four serving policemen of this command for allegedly renting one of the rifles assigned to them to dare devil kidnappers”.

According to the CP, all the police officers, including the armourer arrested in connection with the sordid finding, are now facing orderly room trial.

He said: “I have constituted a panel to try them. They have been given the opportunity to explain and anybody found to be involved in the crime would be made to face the full weight of the law”.

Ngerian Man Killed his Wife in New Jersey

On Friday December 27th, 33 year old Babatope Owoseni was arrested in East Orange, New Jersey in connection with the death of his wife who was nine months pregnant at the time of her death.

26 year old Fatoumata Owoseni was found unresponsive at the 39 South Munn Avenue apartment she shared with Babatope. The police have not released info on how he allegedly killed her. Babatope has been charged with her murder and is being held without bail at the Essex County Corrections Facility
